The Downs Keepers and the Jockey Club staff have considered the issue of a fire risk and have put mitigations in place.
A large water bowser has been filled and attached to a tractor ready should there be an incident that can be safely managed by staff.
Signage is to be placed at key points on the Downs alerting people that BBQ’s and open fires are not allowed and asking people to take litter in particular glass home or place it in the bins provided. Visitors should call the Fire Brigade on 999 or to the Epsom & Ewell Borough Council Contact Centre on 01372 732000 if they see any issue as speed of response will be key.
